Often referred to as emergency back-up pumps, DC Motor Pump Units can provide flow and pressure in the event of a power loss/cut or system failure.
Why are DC Motor Pump Units so important?
DC Motor Pump Units are designed for applications like truck-mounted cranes, hydraulic steering and also to supply and operate hydraulic cylinders and actuators with the help of our hydraulic valves.
How do DC Motor Pump Units work?
Let’s take a look at a Digger for example:
The Digger is split into two halves - the front and rear which are connected by two hydraulic cylinders which change the angle between the front and rear. The steering is hydraulic, so it depends upon the flow generated by the engine-driven pump. If the engine stalls, the pump/motor unit is activated as the engine can no longer supply flow for the steering. The pump/motor unit provides the flow instead so that the digger can continue to manoeuvre safely.
In many cases, these units are integrated into an existing system for auxiliary functions, safety functions or support functions.
Other applications for DC Motor Pump Units include:
Vehicles
Construction
- Supplementary steering & braking
- Support function for lifts
- Auxiliary functions
Material Handling/Aerial Lift
